Video of the Week: The history of Apple
Beloved by tech enthusiasts and design aficionados alike, Apple has grown from humble beginnings in Steve Jobs’ garage to become the most valuable brand in the world.
Apple Computers was formed in 1976 by co-founders Jobs, Steve Wozniak and Ronald Wayne. Over the following decade the organisation went from strength to strength, competing with rival company Microsoft for a share of the personal computer market.
In 1985, Jobs was pushed out of the company he founded after tensions between him and CEO John Sculley reached their peak. The next ten years proved difficult for Apple however, with dwindling profits and record stock lows.
Jobs returned to the fold in 1997, setting the stage for perhaps the greatest ‘second act’ anyone could hope for in their career.
