With all this talk of Romans 13, it is worth noting that the most cited verse in American newspapers between 1840 and 1920 was Luke 18:16:
“But Jesus called them unto him, and said, Suffer little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God.”
This verse, which seems to have some relevance to our current immigration mess, was:
● The third most quoted Bible verse in the 1840
● The most quoted Bible verse in the 1850s
● The most quoted Bible verse in the 1860s
● The most quoted Bible verse in the 1870s
● The most quoted Bible verse in the 1880s
● The second most quoted Bible verse in the 1890s
● The most quoted Bible verse in the 1900s
● The third most quoted Bible verse in the 1910s
● The most quoted Bible verse in the 1920s
