David Blight on 'A Slave No More' [video 103min]

Historian David Blight chronicles the lives of two former slaves, Wallace Turnage and John Washington, whose narratives of emancipation were recently discovered. Blight's book A Slave No More: Two Men Who Escaped to Freedom, includes each of the men's narratives in its original form.
Blight is an American history professor and the Director of the Gilder Lehrman Center for the Study of Slavery, Resistance, and Abolition at Yale University. He has written for numerous publications including the Washington Post"Book World," Chicago Tribune, Los Angeles Times, and Boston Globe. Blight is also the author of Race and Reunion: The Civil War in American Memory. This event was hosted by the National Civil Rights Museum in Memphis, Tenn., on February 2nd 2008.
