Advertisement for American Studies Position 2007

The Department of American Studies at the University of Maryland Baltimore County, invites applications for a position at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor to begin Fall 2008.

Degree: Ph.D. in American Studies preferred; comparable/related interdisciplinary field also considered.

Field:

Specialist in U.S. social diversity and comparative cultures. Scholarship and teaching should address international and global border crossing, immigration, and issues of identity in ethnic and diaspora studies; prefer special emphasis upon Asian, Chicano/Latino, or African experiences. In addition, successful applicant should be able to teach American Studies core theories and methods.

Experience:

Demonstration of teaching excellence on these topics. For Assistant, demonstrated evidence of potential for scholarly productivity; for Associate, record of scholarly publication and accomplishment.
