Simon Schama, author of Rough Crossings: Britain, the Slaves, and the American Revolution is interviewed by Edna Medford, Howard University history professor. In Rough Crossings Schama tells the story of Britain’s abolitionist movement during the Revolutionary War. He focuses on slaves that fought for their freedom on the side of Britain and chronicles the fate of those freed on their journeys, first to Nova Scotia and London, and later to a colony in Sierra Leone.
