Herf says Nazis propagandized Germans to fear, hate Jews [video 60min]

At an event at Politics and Prose in Washington, DC, author Jeffrey Herf examines the efforts to exterminate Europe's Jews during the Holocaust. Herf describes how the Nazis justified their atrocities through propaganda, indicating that Germans were under seige from"the Jewish threat." Herf is a professor of modern European history at the University of Maryland. He specializes in the connection between ideas and politics in Germany during the 20th century. His latest book is The Jewish Enemy: Nazi Propaganda During World War II and the Holocaust (Belknap Press).
