Texas School District Will Offer Bible Study Class [audio 6min]

The school district of Ector County in West Texas has decided to offer a Bible study class for seniors next year. While the community was firmly behind the plan, selection of the curriculum sparked some controversy. The district selected a curriculum devised by a non-profit called the National Council on Bible Study in Public Schools. It uses a single text -- the Bible itself -- and a teachers' guide that critics say does little to show the influence of the Bible on history, art and literature, the purported aim of the course.
