Oxfordshire History in the Landscape [29min]

Brett Westwood presents a series of puzzles involving links between local history and the countryside. 1/6. Uffington, Oxfordshire: Britain's oldest hillside chalk figure, arab nomads in a field of cattle, and an invisible blacksmith in a Neolithic tomb - all part of this week's landscape puzzle on the Berkshire downs. Brett Westwood is back with more puzzles in the landscape, unearthing the lines that have linked people and places over the centuries. The programmes are researched with the help of local historians and residents and, out on location, the puzzle they have helped put together is unravelled by the teams of landscape detectives who read the clues in the landscape and uncover the stories, idiosyncrasies, and land lines of the area.
