Encyclopedia Britannica Features "100 Women Trailblazers" for Women's History Month

Today many women around the world enjoy the right to own property, the right to vote, and the freedom to choose their own careers. These successes are in no small part due to the tenacious women who came before us.

While we can be proud to see how far we’ve come, we also know that reaching true gender equality is still a daunting challenge ahead of us. In this inaugural launch, Britannica invites our readers to explore gender equality as it is defined today. We will meet 100 extraordinary trailblazing women who dared to bring these and other issues to the forefront of discussion. From overcoming oppression to breaking rules to reimagining the world or waging a rebellion, the women of history have a story to tell.
