Former members of Congress Gibbons, Cleland & Pitts recount combat experiences (3hr)

This weekend we continue with interviews with former & current members of Congress who are military veterans. These interviews were conducted by the Library of Congress staff for their Veterans History Project, which is an effort to collect oral histories from all of America's veterans. Participants: Fmr. Rep. Sam Gibbons (D-FL, 1963-97) on D-Day, when he parachuted into France with the 101st Airborne Division. Fmr. Sen. Max Cleland (D-GA, 1997-2003) on his memories of serving in Vietnam, where he was wounded and lost three limbs. Rep. Joseph Pitts (R-PA), on his experiences in the Air Force during the Vietnam War, where he flew 116 combat missions.
