Many of us are indebted to Paul Halsall, the creator of the remarkable Internet History Sourcebooks Project. He was, you may recall, forced from his position at the University of North Florida after public scandal. Subsequently, Halsall tried his luck as a mortgage broker, just in time for the -- oh -- readjustments in American real estate.

After 20 years in the United States, Hallsall has returned to England. He's living just outside Manchester, not far from the Parish Church of St. Mary's, Radcliffe, a building in use since the 15th century. He reports that he's feeling a Medieval Manchester site coming on, perhaps one to match the Medieval New York site he built as a graduate student at Fordham. Just have a look at its riches. There's a book in that site alone. And Halsall is blogging, again, at English Eclectic. I hope he will continue to fulfill his bright promise as a historian.
