PRODI WATCHED BURNING FLAG OF ITALY'S LIBERATORS

On Tuesday, Holocaust Remembrance Day, Milan commemorated the 41 anniversary of the liberation of Italy. Sitting on the stage was Romano Prodi and his fellow dignitaries. Bellow them marched Holocaust survivors, aging Jewish Partisans and members of the originally 5000 strong Jewish Brigade who helped liberate Italy. The PM designate watched with equanimity these old warriors being booed and their flags being burnt. For it was the flag of their Jewish liberators before it was the flag of Israel.

But, then, perhaps"the professor" cares more about the political support of those who wish to start an"intifada" in Italy than those who fought the Fascists.

I know, now he has apologized and condemned. Good.

But the truth is that his existential moment like that of Hillary Clinton, who listened smilingly to Suha Arafat asserting that Israelis were infecting the people of Gaza with AIDs, passed and he failed to stand up and be counted.

One may forgive but should never forget.
