The Associated Press is reporting that the Federal Bureau of Investigation will exhume the body of Emmett Till in its re-opening of the inquiry into his murder in 1955. As David and Linda Royster Beito have pointed out, there are many obstacles to the inquiry. Many of the principles in the case have died in the intervening 50 years. For some years, the original trial transcript in the case against Roy Bryant and J. W. Milam has been missing. But Beito and I have played minor roles in trying to help the FBI recover a copy of it.
