Hey, give those folks in New Mexico credit. When they found out what happened, they didn't suspend the kid and put him in therapy. (Just imagine: "Why's your burrito so big, Kid?"}

Alas, there's nothing new here.
The approach we are advised to take is to put weapons detectors at the doors of every school. We are to be paranoid and suspicious. We are not to assume the humanity of our community.
We are to militarize ourselves and our institutions.
