Second Term Presidents: Have They Changed Their Cabinets?
An article in the NYT (12-10-04) features a chart based on data from Congressional Qaurterly's Guide to the Presidency: White House.
The chart shows that Presidents George W. Bush and Richard Nixon changed more cabinet posts going into their second terms than any other post-war presidents.
Cabinet posts that changed within one year after their second-term election:
