Good interview on Nock. I appreciate seeing his name mentioned in the popular press.
I agree with your final comments: "Nock was a pessimist in 1935 and up until the time of his death, and I think he'd really be in the depths of his pessimism today."
The "X-Box Generation" seems to think war is a game, just hit "Replay" and you get to do it again, and that freedom is a computer-generated model.
Some of my favorite essays of Nock's are in his periodical, "The Freeman" (1920-24), and in Suzanne LaFollete's "The New Freeman" of the early '30's. I think some of his pithiest comments are in his "Journals..." books. Lot of good material, both on himself and about the world in general are there.
