United States Ban on Work of Nobel Prize Winner ...
Brian Ulrich at Brian's Study Breaks calls our attention to this BBC report that Shirin Ebadi, the Iranian Nobel Prize laureate, has filed suit in United States' courts challenging the ban on publication in the United States of work by authors from Cuba, Iran, and the Sudan. It does seem to me to be an egregious mistake to prevent such publication. It is especially so in the case of Ebadi, who has received international acclaim and is no apologist for Iran's authoritarian regime. I've asked Eugene Volokh to comment on the case. He tells me that he is currently"too swamped" to do so, but that he has done prior research on the matter and hopes to get to it.
