This appalling event happened at Benedict College in South Carolina. This is the ultimate logic of the insatiable drive of administrators to increase study body count at all costs. Many thinks to Reed McKee at Moteworthy for calling this to my attention.

Since it is a private college, I don't think FIRE would intervene. I suspect that this goes on everywhere, though usually in less blatant form. Few faculty members, however, have the courage to stand up to it.
