Blogs Liberty and Power One of Us?
Jul 15, 2004One of Us?
It's hard to find decent columnists in the mainstream press these days, but I think I've stumbled upon one in my old hometown of Chicago. In case you have never read him, I'd recommend taking a look at the twice weekly columns of Steve Chapman in the Chicago Tribune. Anyone who regularly cites studies from Cato and Bob Higgs' Crisis in Leviathan deserves reading. His most recent piece takes shots at both Bush and Kerry for their hypocrisy on corporate welfare - yet another reason to vote LP this year.

Nice to hear that he's still fighting the good fight - thanks for the info!

I recall meeting with Chapman at the 1979 LP presidential nominating convention -- probably the high point of that party. He appeared to be closer than a fellow traveler to the libertarian philosophy, and I think he may have had contact with the IHS fellows program of the time. Nice guy.
