Cliopatria Welcomes David Lion Salmanson ...

My colleagues at Cliopatria are both thoughtful historians and excellent teachers. We occasionally get a false alarm about that, as when one of Hugo Schwyzer's students at Pasadena Community College wrote that"he turns history into fairy tales and let's you learn." The poor dear obviously meant well.

But we're pleased to welcome another fine scholar/teacher, David Lion Salmanson, to Cliopatria as a guest blogger for the summer. A graduate of Swarthmore College and the University of Michigan, David has been teaching in one way or another since he was 19. He's taught in outdoor education programs, museums, and colleges and universities. Currently, he teaches world and American history at a K-12 independent school on the east coast. Like Hugo Schwyzer, David Salmanson or"Doc Sal," as they like to call him, generates strong reactions among his students, but you'll have to judge for yourself, why one of them writes:"FIRE HIM, FIRE HIM, FIRE HIM." I suspect that is a repeated typo and the student meant:"HIRE HIM, HIRE HIM, HIRE HIM." In addition to being active on the comment boards at HNN and elsewhere, David continues to research and write on the American West in the 20th century. He has several papers in that field at stages between their delivery at a conference and publication by a journal. We're looking forward to his sojourn among us.

Man, you got way too much time on your hands. I think you should keep your comments resigned to this silly blog rather than let them bleed into other areas of HNN.

Mr. Johnson, Thanks for your advice. I don't know why you are wasting your precious time in offering it.
