The Elitism and Hubris of Obama

This is a beauty. Obama on how he needs to get beyond empty rhetoric in his acceptance speech Thursday night:

"I'm much more concerned with communicating how I intend to help middle-class families live their lives."

Oh gee, thanks Obama, but I'll pass on your"help." I'd prefer the empty rhetoric, if that's okay with you.

The elitism that suggests that middle-class families need his"help" in living their lives is exceeded only by the hubris of him believing he knows what it is that they supposedly need. I'm pretty sure most of the middle-class, more and more of whom are moving up and out of the middle class, can figure out how to live their lives on their own, thankyouverymuch.

It's a sad state of affairs that as bad as Obama is, he's probably not quite as bad as the other major party candidate.

Perhaps you are reading too much into the phrase. If all Obama is referring to here is his proposed tax cut for the "middle-class" ("'working families' making under $250,000"), then fine with me. Tax cuts are good.

Of course, Obama has plans beyond this tax cut, most of them bad, including tax increases on "the wealthiest Americans." But overall, I think McCain is the worse of the two evils.

And he barely made it out of Annapolis, which he was under qualified for and got into probably because of his father.

Do not forget his rich wife and at least Obama can tell you how many houses he owns.

McCain seems to hide his elitism more effectively though, if viewed objectively, he is more guilty of that charge than Obama. His father and grandfather were key figures in the military elite, he has never held a job in the private sector, and he has pretty much been dependent on government since birth.
