More Noted ...

Sidney Blumenthal is all over Lieutenant General William G. Boykin, Deputy Undersecretary of Defense for Intelligence, in the Guardian. Boykin is the lord's militant evangel in charge of making the heathens yield the plot from their hearts of darkness, but don't forget that you read it here first.

It was good to see Davidson's Earl Edmondson dive into the free-for-all at Tim Burke's "Twizzle Twazzle Twozzle Twome". His comment comes from a historian who is better qualified than most of us to compare our puzzlement with the mentalite in Weimar Germany. Burke continues the discussion, by the way, with his most recent post at Easily Distracted, "Preparing a Place in the Museum of Failure".

Daniel Drezner has worked up an interesting typology on where conservative chatterheads are on the war in Iraq. But the situation is in flux and he's interested in how changes will disrupt the current types. Sometimes a social scientist should just throw in the towel -- admit that typologies have limited utility and that historians have been right all along in assuming that change over time is essential to any calculus.

India, evidence that a multi-cultural democracy can work.

The People's Republic of China has issued a report on The Human Rights Record of the United States in 2003. Snigger if you will, but it never hurts to see what you look like in someone else's mirror. Needless to say, we don't look so good in this one.

Finally, this will make it difficult for me to sleep well tonight.
