Like Jacobson, I oppose intellectual boycotts. But his ugly, uncivil, and poorly written opening sure made me wish that I disagreed with him.

The essay you linked to made some good points and I think we expect Israel to withdraw completely from the occupied territories when they feel that their very existence will not be threatened by doing so.

I was not impressed by Howard Jacobson's essay. I have one question: When may we expect Israel to withdraw completely from the occupied territories? The fact is, of course, that Israel hasn't the slightest intention of ever doing so.
