Carnivals: History Carnival L is up at Early Modern Notes. For its 50th incarnation, Sharon Howard, the founder of history carnivals, offers a wonderful feast, with bonus links and news about HC's future! On 1 April, Cambridge's classicist, Mary Beard, will host History Carnival LI at A Don's Life. Alan Baumler hosts Asian History Carnival #12 on Sunday 18 March. Bushwatch: Yesterday, the House of Representatives passed three bills that would make government records more accessible to the public. They await action in the Senate. Among them, H.R. 1255 overturns President Bush's Executive Order 13233 that"allows presidents, vice presidents, former presidents, and even the families of former presidents to delay or withhold presidential records indefinitely." The White House has signaled that President Bush would veto that bill. The House vote of 333-93 indicates far more support for the bill than necessary to override a veto. Hattips. See also: CHE.
