Is the Southern Poverty Law Center saying there should be an ideological test for people joining the military?

Meanwhile this is going on.
Common Sense - 7/7/2006
1. Why does The Southern Poverty Law Center devote such a small proportion of its time to fighting Southern poverty? Perhaps it should turn itself into a charitable organization teaching basic skills needed for employment, or serve as a micro-lending bank. That might actually make an impact on poverty.
2. Why do so many people and organizations that shout the loudest about the virtues of tolerance seem to constantly demand "zero-tolerance" policies? Do these policies ever work?
3. The SPLC calls for a "new" zero-tolerance policy. If the old one did not work, why would the new one? Why not get to the "root cause" of the problem by calling for an end to U.S. imperialism and therefore the need to recruit from the bottom of the barrel?
