K.C. Johnson's Academic Freedom in Peril

The academic freedom of K.C. Johnson, a blogger over at Cliopatria and professor of history at Brooklyn College, is under attack by the faculty union and the College of Education. Johnson's offense was that he wrote an article criticizing the College of Education's use of commitment to"social justice" (a concept that apparently does not include free speech) as a standard to evaluate students.

The Foundation for Individual Rights in Education has taken up Professor Johnson's case.

More ominously, President Christoph M. Kimmich has refused to affirm Professor Johnson's academic freedom in the face of this attack.

President Kimmich needs to be overwhelmed with our emails and phone calls:

Hat tip Ralph E. Luker at Cliopatria.
