Emmett Till Conference in September
A conference on"The Murder of Emmett Till and the Struggle for Civil Rights" will be at Stillman College in Tuscaloosa, Alabama from September 15-17, 2005. I will be presenting a paper on T.R.M. Howard and the Search for Evidence. Ralph E. Luker of our neighbor blog, Cliopatria, will chair one of the panels.
Speakers include John Herbers a journalist who covered the trial, Charles Payne, author of I've Got the Light of Freedom: The Organizing Tradition and the Mississippi Freedom Struggle; Christopher Benson, co-author (with Mamie Till-Mobley) of The Death of Innocence: The Hate Crime that Changed America; and Christopher Metress, author of The Lynching of Emmett Till.
