Breaking London News

Breaking even as I write this (12:36 London time) -- three London tube stations being evacuated as the result of "an incident." We'll see if it amounts to anything.

Update: 1:20 London Time Acording to the BBC, the three stations (Shepherd's Bush, Warren Street, and Oval) plus a bus have been evacuated after a small"dummy" detonation. Channel 4 is updating right now this same news. Obviously we know very little, but London is on edge. More as I know it.

Update (2:45 London Time): The latest news is that the status has been upgraded -- this is a serious incident in which three tube stations and one bus are involved.

Update (2:55 LT) One person has been injured on the bus -- and he may have been the one who detonated the bomb, carried in his knapsack. We do not know about the Underground. Several Underground lines have been closed, Including the Northern Line (Warren Street and Oval stops), Victoria Line (also Warren Street) and Hammersmith & City (close proximity to Warren Street and Shepherd's Bush). No word yet about the Central Line (Shepherd's Bush).

3:20 Several stations have been cordoned off, and of those many are being expanded. Right now there are reports that there may be an unexploded device in (what may be) the Shepherd's Bush station. Some people are being moved out of their houses and traffic is seriously restricted in several areas. The first attacks, of course, happened two weeks ago today. Even if this is a small attack, one wonders if we are not seeing another prong in the terrorist strategy -- to nickle and dime London (and perhaps soon large US cities) to death (literally) in between larger attacks. The police are armed and searching (a) subject(s), having excorted at least one from a station. Another was chased from the Oval station. The bus was an East End bus -- windows were blown out but there seem not to have been a lot of serious injuries.

3:51 London police are reporting that the situation is under control. One person apparently injured, at least one taken into custody. Tony Blair is givinga press conference, and basically is saying"I know about as much as you do."

What is the Chinese curse?"May you live in interesting times." I am sure we will learn much more in the times to come, but I will also assume that Rebunk is not your source for news and will assume that you know where the good British news sources are.
