Legionnaires Disease

We have a new outbreak of legionnaires disease. A lively debate is taking place at Cliopatria on a proposal by Jeff Vanke to establish an"American Foreign Legion for Iraq ." A few weeks ago, Liberty and Power readers had a discussion on Max Boot's similar proposal to create a Freedom Legion.

Neither of these is as bad a suggestion of the Brit-turned Harvardian, Niall
Ferguson, who, in suggesting we emulate the Brits, take those in our prisons and put them into the armed forces.
He seems unaware the Brits as early as 1880 were short on troops in India, and the arch-imperialist, Joe Chamberlain was complaining the Punjabis had grown soft in the service of the Empire.
