The Sudan: Ally or Enemy?
The New Republic’s blog &c has a rather pointed entry on the administration’s Sudan policy. The money quotation:
What's worse than making a declaration of genocide and then doing effectively nothing to stop it? Making a declaration of genocide, doing effectively nothing to stop it, and then moving toward normalized relations with the perpetrators. It is usually easier to raise problems than it is to establish solutions. (Which hardly seems a reason not to be critical in a democratic society.)But in this case the solution is simple – stop coddling the leaders of The Sudan and start applying serious pressure on them to reform.
