One difference, among many others. The situation in Korea had stabilized by 1953. The situation in Iraq, by contrast, shows no signs of doing so.
Well, since the current combat death toll in Iraq is, what, 1/30th that of Korea, I'd call the current endeavour a fairly good buy for the money.
True....but the killing pretty much stopped in 1953.
We haven't won the Korean war yet: the numbers need to be adjusted to account for our continuing expenditures in the penninsula....
