Move over, slide rules, another tsunami is already here!
The Crazy Frog by Axel F is just created a new milestone: The Top Single in England and elsewhere is a Ringtone! Where at one time Elvis, The Beatles, The Beach Boys and a host of other crooners, rockers and rapsters only existed has a new party crasher. It has become so popular that even Wikipedia has a Crazy Frog entry.
Just a thought.
I don't think this is too strong an evidence for the above, because, in a way, this is just some sort of child song. It is somehow scarry to see that it can rush into the single charts, but the only reason that people listend to more complex music in the past was the absence of music like this.
Perhaps one can blame this on the modernist-postmodernist era, in which everything was art and obviously this credo is still working fine.
