Thanks Chris! The tenuring and promotions processes here are thankfully more rational than at American Idol.
Further clarification for those who were curious: I spent 8 or so years in non-tenure-track positions before landing here, then was eligible to apply for tenure early (credit for "time served"?), but promotion and tenure are de-linked here, so I was obliged to wait a year before applying for associate. But now I'm both, Zeus be praised.
Let mine be another Voice added to the Congratulations Choir! (Don't know if we're all, uh, good enough, to be finalists on "American Idol"... but glad we can sing your praises.) :)
