Kamran Adl’s photos of 1960’s Iran to go on display in capital

A collection of 130 photos taken in various regions of Baluchestan, Fars, Golpayegan, Zanjan, Neyshabur, and Kordestan will go on display at the exhibit that opens on Friday at the Shirin gallery.

Many of these photos make one feel nostalgic about the old days in an Iran that no longer exists, the Persian service of ISNA reported on Wednesday.

Adl in his memoir of photography in Iran wrote, “When I returned home from Paris 40 years ago, I did not know what the future would hold for me. I left photography in Paris and came to Iran for adventure.

“I went to different spots in Iran and found out that I had not made a mistake by returning. I was exactly where I should be. Everything went my way and I got the chance to take many photos.

“It is true that Iran’s nature is mystical and I was fascinated by this, but then again the people of Iran were different 40 years ago. And I was tempted to photograph the Iranian element in its own environment...
