N-Y Historical Society Exhibition on 9/11

New-York Historical Society president Louise Mirrer and curators Marilyn Kushner and Stephen Edidin will introduce Here is New York: Remembering 9/11/01 -- a haunting new exhibition commemorating the sixth anniversary of the World Trade Center terrorist attacks and featuring 1,300 photographs, a display of found-objects pulled from the rubble and hundreds of oral histories -- at a press preview on Thursday, September 6th, 10 AM to 12 NOON, at the New-York Historical Society, 170 Central Park West (at 77th Street.)

An emotional recollection, the exhibition will include objects such as the landing gear from American Airlines Flight 11 and United Airlines Flight 175, structural fragments from the Towers and wreckage from the NY Fire Department’s Rescue Company #2 rig. Alongside the objects will be 1,300 photos drawn from “The Here is New York Collection” archives, which depict New Yorkers pulling together to help one another.

The show opens to the public on Tuesday, September 11 and runs through January 1, 2008.
