New Report Documents the State of History at Two-Year Colleges

History at Two-Year Colleges

Key Findings:

  • Between 700- and 750-thousand students took at least one history course at a community college in the fall of 2015.
  • About 14,500 community college faculty taught a course in history, which comprised approximately 21% of the faculty teaching humanities courses in community colleges.
  • History courses were offered at approximately 75% of community colleges.
  • Slightly more than 10% of students enrolled at community colleges for credit were taking a history course.
  • Dually enrolled high school students comprised 14%–17% of the students enrolled in history courses at community colleges.
