Top 5 Most Ridiculous Personal Injury Claims in History

Some people are willing to do all it takes for money – some might go as far as making ridiculous personal injury claims, in an attempt to become wealthy overnight. While personal injuries are far from being amusing, in any way, the cases we’re about to introduce to you are the definition of bizarre, at the very least.

1.    The Killer Whale Caper

A man’s dream was to swim at the side of a killer whale. So, what did he do? He visited the Sea World and hid from the security guards, so that he could stay in the park even after closing hours. As soon as everyone left, he entered the tank where the whale would be, in an attempt to pursue his dream. Nevertheless, things didn’t go as planned, as the man was killed by the whale.

In response, the man’s parents decided to sue the Sea World because it didn’t publicly warn that killer whales are likely to kill people. And the most ridiculous accusation was that Sea World presented killer whales as being friendly because they sold stuffed whales in the gift shop. It goes without saying that it took a while for the parents to find the right representation for victims of personal injury and wrongful death.

2.   Subway Lawsuit

After finding a 7-inch plastic knife in his Subway sandwich, a man decided to sue the company for damage. Although he didn’t end up swallowing the plastic, nor did he experience any other physical damage than a minor cut, he filed a $1,000,000 lawsuit. On top of that, he outlined that, due to the sandwich, he actually contracted food poisoning, which led to stomach aches.

3.   The Sued Weatherman

Apparently, there are no limits when it comes to personal injury claims. And this case definitely demonstrates that. A weatherman from an Israeli television was sued by a local woman due to the fact that he didn’t predict the weather accordingly. Even though the weatherman outlined that the weather would be good, the reality differed, as it had rained instead.

The Israeli woman said that, due to the wrongful prediction, she didn’t dress weather appropriately and caught the flu, missed a week at work, and had to spend a lot on medication. Surprisingly, though, she won the case, after suing the station for $1,000.

4.   House of Horrors Psychological Trauma

After going to the Haunted House of Horrors in the Universal Studios in Florida, a woman decided to sue the establishment due to the psychological trauma that followed after her visit. Evidently, the court dismissed the claim, outlining that going to such a place implies acknowledging the trauma that comes with the territory.

5.   Injuries Caused by A Thong

It seems that something as mundane as putting on underwear can lead to unwanted incidents. A Victoria Secret shop based in Los Angeles was sued because putting on a thong caused damage to her eye. The tight fit of the underwear determined one of the metal clasps to fly off at a really high speed, eventually striking in her eye.

In summary, these are some of the weirdest and most bizarre personal injury claims. Which is the funniest in your opinion?
