● Machu Picchu: Situated in the south of Peru, this is a wonderful place to delve into the past. This ruined city is located on a mountaintop and you are looking at a trek of around four days or a train ride in order to access it. This site has strong connections to the Incas but fell into ruin after a Spanish invasion. It was rediscovered in the early 1900s and is now a UNESCO World Heritage site as well as one of the New Seven Wonders.

● The Pyramids at Giza: Out fascination with Egyptian pyramids goes back a long way and these pyramids are several thousand years old. The fascination is all the more deepened by the fact that we have no idea how they were created and what makes their build so precise. This is a hugely popular global historical attraction that really gets you thinking and is truly awe=inspiring.

● Stonehenge: The famous Stonehenge site is located in England near to Salisbury, and the image of this megalithic structure has become well known around the world. There is confusion and controversy with regards to how the huge stones were actually transport there in the first place and it has become a hugely fascinating and mysterious historical attraction over the years. Although you cannot go inside the circle of stones, you can take a tour around it.

● Taj Mahal: Located in Agra, India, many people associate this incredible building with the iconic image of Princess Diana sitting outside with a distant look in her eyes. The building is associated with love and was built in the 17th century. You should make sure you take in the incredible white marble tomb, which was built for the wife of the emperor when she passed away. This building is truly a sight to behold.
