Rahm Emauel takes charge of Obama library battle

Rahm Emanuel is taking the reins on the University of Chicago’s shaky bid for the Obama Presidential Library and Museum, the Chicago mayor announced Monday during a press conference.

Emanuel, President Barack Obama’s former chief of staff, will begin to plan the first public discussions about potential sites for the library alongside the city’s Park District. The options have been narrowed down to areas in two city parks — Washington and Jackson.

“I said when it started we were going to do everything possible to make sure that Chicago had its best foot forward so it was an easy choice for the president and the First Lady to pick the city of Chicago,” Emanuel said on Monday.
