Colonial Williamsburg outbids competitors for Carter's Grove
Colonial Williamsburg submitted the high bid Wednesday among competitors seeking to buy Carter's Grove Plantation at auction.
Stanley Samorajczyk, the court-appointed trustee who has managed the property for the last year, said Colonial Williamsburg bid $7.4 million, which is equivalent to the balance it is owed on the property.
He added that there were other offers, though "none were competitive with Colonial Williamsburg's bid." Samorajczyk would not identify the other bidders, nor how many offers were made on the plantation.
