Buffalo State professor Felix Armfield killed in fire honored Thursday

A Buffalo State professor who was killed in an apartment fire in April was honored Thursday morning with a memorial service on campus.

For those who knew him, Felix Armfield was best known for just being Felix.

"He was a unique individual with unique gifts and talents and a knack for making everyone he encountered comfortable with him,” said Bonita Durand, Buffalo State chief of staff to the president. “And if they paid attention, they generally learned something."

Armfield, a Buffalo State history and social studies education professor, was remembered at a special memorial service at Rockwell Hall. Armfield tragically passed away after a fire broke out on the fourth floor of the Commodore Apartments on Delaware Avenue April 30. He was 51.
