The real Sherlock Holmes?

A new biography of a leading Victorian detective suggests he helped inspire Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's creation, Sherlock Holmes. The biography of real life investigator, Jerome Caminada, reveals a series of striking similarities between him and the fictional character, in terms of their methods and character, the Daily Telegraph reports. Written by author Angela Buckley, the biography, out this month, also establishes strong echoes between the real detective’s cases and plot lines used by Doyle. Sherlock Holmes made his debut in the 1880s.
