FORGET ZOGBY - IT'S ALL ABOUT THE WISH TO CONTROL WOMEN

Sorry for the horror which permeates the following - but the culture of death we are battling is made more vicious by Western realization of the connection between gnder inequality and terrorism - So do forget Zogby. If you missed (of have forgotten) my article Afghanistan: A Just War , you may wish to read it.

Traditional men everywhere, and Jihadists most viciously, are fighting to keep their control over women. Do note that Van Gogh was killed for exposing the plight of Muslim women and the Somali Parliament member who cooperated with him is in hiding. The only good news - we are no longer sweeping such matters under the rug competely - though serious coverage in mainstream media is pitiful! If only the NYT or the BBC gave these stories 10% of the coverage they gave the Death of Arafat . . . . . . .

Here are some stories that mainstream media are not reporting -

That headline looks quaint. Who can worry about sports discrimination? Even NGO Decries Violation of Women's Rights:

BAOBAB for Women Rights, a non-governmental organisation (NGO), has described the violation of women rights in the society as manifested in such harmful practices as rape, female genital mutilation, among others.

In a press statement signed by Chibogu Obinna to celebrate its annual international campaign, tagged 16-day of activism against gender-based violence, the NGO regretted that"the global battle against HIV/AIDS will ultimately fail unless serious progress is made on women's rights".

The theme of this year's campaign is:"For the health of women, for the health of the nation, no more violence". . . . . .

Where does this practice grow? Believe it or not - Genital Mutilation 'On the Increase in Europe' Their multiculturalists believe it is not the business of outsiders.

Even a super model has difficulty getting the right headlines -

"Somalia-born supermodel and best-selling author Waris Dirie, who has campaigned to end the disfiguring practice she suffered at age five in her homeland, said yesterday that she estimates one in every three African families living in Europe is secretly carrying out the ritual on their daughters. No official figures exist.

The procedure – illegal in most European countries – is especially prevalent in Germany and the Netherlands, as well as in Austria, where an estimated 8,000 girls born into immigrant families have been affected, Dirie said.

“We don’t know who’s doing it and where,” because there are few initiatives to prevent it or to encourage doctors, nurses, social workers, teachers and others to report suspected cases, Dirie said. An exception is France, where there is strong awareness and education, she said".

Good for France!
