Last February and March, Tim Burke, Jon Dresner, Caleb McDaniel, and Rob MacDougall had an extended discussion about the work of the University of Maryland's Vincent Carretta on Olaudah Equiano. In October, the University of Georgia Press will publish Carretta's new biography, Equiano the African: Biography of a Self-Made Man. Jennifer Howard,"Unraveling the Narrative," Chronicle of Higher Education, 9 September, covers the controversy.
