IN IRAN LIKE IN FORMER YUGOSLAVIA, THE EUROPEANS STIKE OUT

I cannot watch the pitiful European efforts to contain Iran without remembering the last time the Europeans volunteered to deal with a difficult regime, that of Yugoslavia. The failed miserably. Germany wants a permanent Security council seat. The French and the British have them. All for naught. That is the message of El Baradei:

"I firmly believe that any grand bargain will have to involve the United States," he said,"because on the security side, only the U.S. can do the heavy lifting."

In other words, there is only one enforcer in the world. No wonder they all hate us!
