New Human Right: The truth about history

Dear colleagues,

The United Nations and the Organization of American States have recently developed ideas regarding a new human right of great importance to historians: the right to the truth, that is the right to know the truth about past human rights violations. Complete sets of the following documents are available in English, French, and Spanish at the website of the Network of Concerned Historians (http://www.concernedhistorians.org): click on “Resources” in the left menu and go to “Truth, right to the”.

**UN Human Rights Council (formerly Commission), Resolution 2005/66 (2005); Decision 2/105 (2006); Resolution 9/11 (2008); andResolution 12/L.27 (2009).

**UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, Studies on the Right to the Truth of 2006, 2007, and 2009.

**Organization of American States, Resolutions of 2006, 2007, 2008, and 2009.

**Organization of American States (Inter-American Commission on Human Rights: Office of the Special Rapporteur for Freedom of Expression), Right to the Truth (2004).

Best Wishes
